Jungfrau, 4158m

In July, 2003, me and Sven Bugarski climbed Jungfrau (4158m) in Switzerland, close to Interlaken.
U could also check out Sven's mountaineering and travel place where he shows our trip.
And if your German is not too bad, u could read his story.

We started with some sightseeing in the idyllic village Grindenvald.
From there we took the train to the mountain station Jungfrau Joch (3450m) where we tented on the glacier and cooked an excellent supper.
Our journey started quit late, 5 o'clock next morning, since we had to wait for the first group with guide to go before us. This was needed for the rocks (to the left) where it was tricky to find the correct way. Only two other groups climbed Jungfrau this morning, both with guides.
After rock climbing there were some glacier walk before the real steep part with ice climbing started.

Luckily we had two ice screws helping us with this icy and steep part of the climb.

On this photo it looks flat, but without the ice screws this last steep slope before the top would have been quit risky.
Finally, the top, Jungfrau (4158 m)...
... and the nice scenery from the top.
On our way home we visited another city in Switzerland, Luzern.
And a last look back on our top... Auf wiedersehen, Jungfrau!!!
